Coming up: Washington conferences

Washington - On February 23 Center for Strategic and International Studies will host a conference on "South Caucasus fault lines: security, energy and U.S. interests" featuring a yet to be named "high-ranking U.S. government official." For details contact Besian Bocka Bbocka@csis.org.

From February 28 to March 2 Policy Forum Armenia will hold its second annual forum in Washington featuring Armenian parliament member and former foreign minister Raffi Hovannisian as keynote speaker. E-mail forum@pf-armenia.org.

And on April 11-14, the American-Turkish Council will hold its 29th Annual Conference that is expected to feature Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Congressional committee passes Armenian Genocide resolution

On March 4, after a three-hour debate and 90-minute vote, the House of Representatives' Committee on Foreign Affairs narrowly passed the Armenian Genocide resolution with 23 voting in favor and 22 against despite a last-moment White House call to hold off the vote; a full tabulation of votes is provided.
