Armenian Consulate in LA hosts consular corps meeting

Burbank, Calif. - The Consul General of Armenia Grigor Hovhanissian hosted the first planning meeting and the luncheon of the Los Angeles Consular Corps (LACC) in the Armenian Center of Burbank on January 28.

The luncheon was attended by various Consular missions accredited to Los Angeles and Orange Counties, representatives of the LA city office of protocol, US Secret Service, Police and Diplomatic Protection Unit, as well as Mr. Paul Krekorian, the newly elected councilman of the LA city council.

The Dean of the LA Consular Corps, Honorable Ambassador Inocencio Arias Llamas of Spain introduced the Consul Generals of Paraguay and Croatia who recently assumed their duties in Los Angeles. The LACC working session was followed by a lunch and Armenian cultural program.

The 35th Governor of California, the Honorable George Deukmejian, the guest speaker of the event, addressed the audience with a presentation on economic interdependence and international trade models that have been successfully employed in California over the last decades. Mr. Deukmejian also answered diplomats' questions about the political and economic outlook in California and a few episodes from his gubernatorial career.
